Pantone has announced the Pantone New York Fashion Week colors of Spring/Summer 2019, and the second color is Jester Red.
Luckily Jester Red is an easy color to pull off and you can hold on to the pieces you buy this season for the lifetime of your wardrobe. Here is some information about Jester Red and how to wear it timelessly.
First things first, we should think about color psychology when we decide what colors to wear. You want to dress the way you would like to be perceived, especially at work.
Jester Red:
Jester Red is a color of excitement, heuristic understanding, attention, action, and hedonism. It’s a color of femininity, passion, love, and warmth. It conveys energy, strength, stimulation, and courage. However, it also conveys survival, anger, defiance, aggression, impact, and strain.
This color says, “Look at me because I am a woman who is a passionate survivor.” BUT, this is not a wallflower color. You will be the center of any room you walk into, and so you must be ready to be social. If you are trying to calm the atmosphere around you, Jester Red can seem too visually impactful and can cause things to escalate as it causes rises in metabolism and blood pressure. This is a great color to wear in the boardroom or at an event.
I also think it’s important to think about color theory when looking at what to wear because you always want to bring out your best features rather than overshadowing yourself or washing yourself out. So, wear Jester Red if you are:
A Soft Summer, like these soft sirens:
A Cool Summer like these delicate divas:
Or A Deep Winter, like these cool chicks:
